  1. I presently have a 16x DVD Rom Drive and a 48x24x48x CD-RW Drive. And I have a new 4x DVD+/-RW dual mode, combo CD-RW drive to install. The Read speeds on the new DVD/CD burner are slower than the present drives, so instead of replacing the present CD-RW, I'm thinking about using the new DVD burner drive in a USB2/1394 External Case Drive Enclosure. This way I can always Read from the 1st DVD Rom drive, write CD's to the 2nd CD-RW drive and write DVD's to the 3rd DVD+/-RW external drive. Will this work ok or is it better to connect directly to the IDE? I will appreciate any input.

Don't put the DVD Writer in the USB Box. If you must keep the extra CD/RW then buy an ATA Card which will give you 4 extra IDE devices. I take it you already have two hardrives installed? If you don't want to go this route then stick the CD/RW in the usb encloser. I think you'll find that you may not use it as much as you thought you would. I have the same setup and it hasn't been turned on in months. But it looks nice in it's own box.
