  1. trying to find the best dvd dual writer for under $200. The ones listed are TDK IndiDVD 440N, Sony DW-U10A, Pioneer DVR-A06/106, OptoRite DD0203, and NEC ND-1300A.

If anyone has any suggestions I would be glad to here them.

  2. After a long time look at duel burners I decided the Sony dr-510 (cheapest I found around $300) probable the best one out there and maybe the Pioneer DVR-A06 (at $180) the 2nd.

Needless to say I went for the Pioneer and don't regret it.

    Pioneer A06 at $180 !!!!!! Where?
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

You could get the NEC ND-1300A 4X DVD±R/±RW DRIVE INT EIDE DRIVE ONLY (Bare Drive) for just US$163.00 at http://avlogic.com/product.cgi?code=18030059

Just go to http://www.nec.com.hk/cms/show.jsp?pid=4&cnid1=1927&type1=1&rhtID1=4 and review all the specs. It looks like a good deal to me.

  9. Spend just a few more $- the LG GSA-4040B writes to +R/RW, -R/RW and -RAM - ALL the formats. Several vendors are selling it for $225 on pricewatch.com. It's a new drive, but their previous model the 4020 received good reviews on this site.

Ok, I've been out of the loop for a while, but what happened to Sony? It seems everyone is on a Pioneer kick lately? I bought my DRU500a a few months back, and it was the best investment I ever made

  12. The Pioneer A06 is probably the best choice right now. I would also consider the Optorite DD0203 since it has a feature that lets your burn 1.4 gigs onto a regular 700mb CDR.

Thats because the Pioneer drives have a better reputation with media compatibility and its costs about $100 less than the Sony drive. [/quote]

I agree, the NEC's work great. I have the ND-1100a and I have yet to get a coaster out of 100+ burns. Its cheap and reliable, nothing better...plus the 1300 writes to both formats, I would go this route if I were you.

Why do I need firmware upgrades and support when it works perfect right now...I use the tdk 4x dvd+r's and they burn at 4.1x, under 15 minutes...with no problems.

  17. Best price going for a good dual format DVD burner IMO is the NEC ND-1300a which goes for a mere $160 here.

  18. I would go with Pioneer or Lite-on. Nothing wrong with Sony or NEC either thou. Lite-on is a strange company. IMHO they make some of the best products on the market despite the fact that the average consumer has never heard of them.

Price wise they are normally lower than the 'big names' and quaility wise equal or greater. They're almost like their own OEM corp
