i have 2 'Windows Media Audio/Video file' and would like to know how to convert them so that i can burn them to a VCD and play on a dvd player which is vcd compatible.

is it also possible to improve the quality of the picture?

There are some filters that may improve some of the "rough edges" of your WMV but generally speaking you can't improve something if the source is'nt so good.

  6. Nero is a very poor encoder. Use something like TMPGEnc and you will notice the difference.

Have tried using TMPGEnc but it runs really slow, at the moment to convert a 50mins file it has taken over 4 hours, is there anything else i can use?

yeah sure u can do that too i pretty sure of it.
after you run Ulead Moviefactory, click new
project then VCD or DVD then in the bottom
left corner there is an options button, click it
and go to preferences and you can change it
from PAL to NTSC or vice-versa. try it.
