Bad Minidv tapes have high pitched beeping sounds

I have always praised sony minidv tapes but I seem to have gotten a batch of bad ones. I hear this high pitched beeping sound on the tapes that is random about every couple of seconds. It is unmistakable and after taking my camcorder apart and checking everything I finally narrowed the problem down to the minidv tapes. Has anyone else had this problem. I am definately thinking about swithing tape brands. Any suggestions on a new brand. I think that paying more for quality tapes is ok because when you tape and get a faulty output it just sucks.
