I just finished a project in which I shot 12 High Definition mini Dv tapes. The cameras had to be returned and I did not have time to digitize my footage. I am now looking for a way to get this footage onto my computer. I will be editing in Final Cut Pro on a G5 Mac. I have a non-HD camcorder that will play back mini dvs, but will it transfer in HD? If not what would you recommend to be the cheapest deck/camera to rent for digitizing this footage?

    Thanks!

Here's cool site - folks offering their decks to rent:

You should have found the time. Go back and rent or borrow the HDV camcoder again so you can do the transfer. You will need a program on the Mac that can manage the transfer. Final Cut Pro HD will work.

not all hd cams record the same type of file. go back rent or buy the type you used or you may not get anything off the tape.
