  1. After owning my HS2 for about eight months, I recently began backing up my VHS tapes. I'm going from video out on my Mits U-795 into the L2 inputs on the front of the unit. I realized that I'm not getting any kind of 'cannot record' message on any tapes. So I popped in a Disney tape and it also records without a hitch. I was under the impression that certains types of copyguard made it impossible or difficult to copy certain VHS tapes. Anyone else having similar experiences?

  3. I've been trying to backup my VHS copy of No Highway in the Sky, with Jimmy Stewart & Marlene Dietrich, and can't do it with my DMR-HS2.

    What's a "Mits U-795"?

  4. I just figured it out. It's a Mitsubishi S-VHS VCR. Rather expensive one at that.

There's got to be a cheaper way I can back up my Jimmy Stewart tape

  5. Yes, what is it?

Often times model numbers are mentioned in posts like A106 or Sd5002 or something, but no info about what it is or who it is made by.

Is that a Setop DVD recorder, VHS recorder, ect...
Might be something I'd like to buy myself

  7. Aww now were getting somewhere, and is this reasonably priced and available in the USA?

Is it still recording protected tapes ok?
Might be useful as a back up tool!
Also I need a new vcr before they discontinue them someday
Will be like Beta and 8Tracks, lots of Tapes, no player!

At 295.00 I thought so, they are discontinued though. I'm not sure what you mean when you ask if it still recording protected tapes 'OK'. I'm not sure if it's the VCR or HS2 that is responsible for the successful back-ups. After reading about the 'message' several times, I wanted to see it for myself so I slapped in Disney tape, didn't get it.
