Dear all,
I have been using the following to convert VHS tapes for months.
1. 1T-TBC-GL Time Base Correctors
2. ViewCast Osprey 240e video capture card.
3. Virtualdub
Recently, I have re-installed the Windows7 (64 bit) on my computer and something weird happened.
When I connected my VCR to the capture card directly, nothing was captured by the Virtualdub; however, the capture card showed that there was a video signal getting in. When I connected my VCR to the capture card through the time base corrector, everything was fine.
I have switched the cables, but the problem still appeared.
I feel that my time base corrector is not working well on a particular VHS tape, so I want to connect my VCR to the capture card directly.
Would anyone please tell me what is happening?
Thanks!

When the VCR is connected directly you don't even see a preview in Virtualdub?
Have you tried an alternative capture software ? -
Are all your drivers Win 64 ready?

Nothing on the preview.
VLC player is capable of capturing external video. I have tried it before, but it failed.
I will try to install some other softwares to see if they work or not. I feel that my time base corrector is not working well on a particular tape, so I want to connect my VCR to the capture card directly. -

Approx. 15 year ago, I copied a Disney tape from one VCR to another; I had a Panasonic VCR at the time that
seemed to be 'Immune" to Macrovision, (it was a 1989 model) so I used it as the record deck without any TBC,
Sima color corrector, "stabilizer", etc, etc. and it came out just fine.
About 3 months ago, the tape created above was in my VHS machine that is directly connected to my Avermedia
capture card. I had Virtualdub in capture/preview mode, and lo and behold, the image was blank.
It's as if the Macrovision itself had been transferred from one tape to the other.
The tape played back fine in any VCR on the TV, but my capture card refused it!
