I looked on the website and it explicitely says to NOT edit, cut, or join the source mpg files before using SVCD2DVDMPG.
Most of my SVCD's were made with DVD2SVCD and they all have the intro screen and the change disk screen included in them. Plus they all overlap by about 5 secondsto make up for any dialogue that might have hit the CD change point.
Once I rip them off the CD's and back down to MPEG files I will have to get rid of the intro/change CD screens and fix the time overlap. What are the negative effects of doing this BEFORE I pass them through SVCD2DVDMPG? Whay is the statment made on the website? Is there a workaround?

You can join them but don't blame the program when your audio is out of sync or when you have a file that is bigger then 2 GB and the program won't run it.
You could cut out then overlay in 1 of the files. I think it would be you best bed to cut in the file where the part is at the end so you have less change of having a out of sync audio.

OK, but since most movies span 2 CD's when made into SVCD's, how can you use this program reliably to put them together into a single movie and place them on the DVD?
Am I missing some otherwise obvious point here?
Or are most users just placing the different MPEG files of the same movie on the DVD and using the menu to select the other half of a movie?
I am just trying to understand the best approach to take my 2 disk SVCD's and put them on DVD.Only 3 things are certain in life... Death, Taxes, and SPAM. Of these, only Death seems affordable!

if you want a smooth transition between the 2 part then you can to use a mpg tool like tmpgenc to merge the two parts. but beware this can give synchronisation problems with the audio.
if you don't a little hope or overlap between the two parts then just use the seperate parts behind each other and let the dvd run from the beginning untill the end. I svcd2dvdmpg you would put both parts in the same vts and not each part in its own vts. That is what you would do if you had different movies each movie has it's own vts.
This is what i do and it is up to you to find your own methode of doing it. there isn't a right or wrong one, just do it like you prefer but some opties have some side affects. -
just copy the mpeg2 file of cd 1 to the harddrive i use a folder called film i use iso buster to rip the mpeg as a ture mpeg then rename the mpeg to svcd1 then rip the second mpeg from disk 2 and rename it svcd2 start svcd2dvd and choose the film folder as your source start svcd2dvd and it will convert it 2 one dvd you end up with a VIDEO_TS folder which you can burn with nero

Wow, thanks for breaking it down "Unidentified Guest"
Those are simple enough instructions that I think I can handle it.
Thanks again! You should really get a username and jion us here! You seem helpful enough and for the most part...
