Hello,
Just a quick question on using Smartripper. Do I use movie or file mode to rip the files for use with other transcoding software? I've read a lot of guides but they all use dvd decrypter in them, and I can't find this answer searching the forums. I tried using decrypter but it seems to lock up my system.
Thx!

Movie mode will find the longest program chain on the disc and rip that. This is best when you are dealing with a feature movie. However, if you have a disc with several episodes of a TV show, say, the problem is that only one epidsode will be selected with movie mode. In that case, you would need to pick all the files (VOBs) using file mode.
If you are using the all-in-one DVD backup programs (like DVD shrink) I think you should rip all the files using file mode (basically making an exact but unencrypted copy of the DVD) and then use that to feed into your DVD back-up program. It will then you give you options for removing program chains, audio streams you do not want, etc. -
David K is right. When using the one click solution to backup (IC 7 or DVD Shrink) always use File Mode then select ALL FILES. Then after it's ripped, IC 7 or DVD Shrink will prompt you what you want to keep.
