    Hi,
I'm new to this forum. I have struggled with this problem for a long time. I am trying to record movies of MS-DOS game (which is not executable in Windows Mode MS-DOS but only in real DOS mode). I have an old computer runs in Windows 98 with Voodoo 3 TV card (has a composite and s-video output). Once I tried Pinacle's Studio Moviebox (with s-video) to record the game screen but it resulted in fuzzy-looking poor quality movies. I want to capture rather high quality movies of MS-DOS game and eventually burn them into DVD for my prviate collection. I searched the Internet and these are two solutions I came up with.

    1. Use frame capture card, connect my old computer to my new computer and capture the movie

    2. First use VGA to Component Video Converter to convert the signal and capture the movie (possibly with capture board or DVD recorder?)

I wonder if there is a way to do it more efficiently.
Also because there are so many products available in market, I'm not really sure which product to use.
If you have any similar experience, could you make an recommandation for me?
I don't need an industrial level product but would like to have a product that will yield a decent quality of movies.
    Thanks in advance.

You should be able to get decent quality using svideo and the pinnacle studio moviebox. Could you post a sample or screenshot how it looks like?

I'm sorry. It was about an year ago and I erased them all and returned my studio moviebox to the store so I don't have it anymore I connected Voodoo 3 's S-Video output to studio movie box and connected it to my new computer's USB. But the the screen was jagged (interlaced?) and fuzzy. Will using different method will yield better quality?

  4. You could try to run the program in Windows with DosBox. DosBox is software that emulates a Dos environment. To capture the screen output, you can either use Fraps or Taksi. DosBox needs to be configured to output in OpenGL for Fraps to "see" the screen output. I will look it up when I have more time. It should give you pixel perfect captures.
