Apparently the new release yesterday now has a built in MPEG2 decoder (CRI Sofdec) for MPEG2 sources. I tried it. I found it to be only slightly slower than frameserving from DVD2AVI, probably because the demux is done separately with a DVD2AVI source. It was definitely faster than a VirtualDub frameserve, although you would naturally still go that route if you wanted an edited source. The old MPEG-2 plugin was always WAY slow, for me at least, so this is pretty cool. Doesn't look like they included this feature in the free MPEG-1 version?, but I'm not certain on that.
