  1. Hey

I use my PC to playback SVCDs. I've made a few (all working) SVCDs in the past so I'm not a complete n00b.
I burned a SVCD with fireburner from a pre-generated .cue. With daemon tools it worked fine under WinDVD 5 or even with media player. When I sucessfully burned the thing everything would just freeze when I attemped to playback. I did some fiddling and tried again, with no luck.
I thought that maybe something was wrong with the image, so I extracted the mpg with VCDeasy.
I created a standard compilant SVCD with nero, following the guide on this page. It checked the file and said it's OK. I burned it to an image with nero's virtual recorder and opened it with daemon tools. Everything worked fine in WinDVD, the menus were fully functional.
When I sucessfully burned it to a CD the thing would not work again. WinDVD would open the SVCD, but nothing else. The menu appears to be working but the video won't play! There's just darkness. Anyway this sucks. Any help would be appreciated.
Under play it says that users should try to install ASPI if they're having problems... Well anyway my ASPI is fully functional just to let you know

  2. Everything is going haywire! I got myself a CDRW disc since I already wasted three CDs yesterday. Anyway it's the same as another CDRW I already have (Intenso 4x-10x).
So I decided to give it a try and I just burned the image with nero without any menus and stuff. It recorded OK but it would not work again.
So I said **** this, I'll try to record a XSVCD I have just to see if everything is still OK. So I tried to erase the CDRW. I used the "quick-erase" option in nero. When it got to like 90% it went to 100% and dropped back to 90% several times. Then it said something like "unable to recover TOC".
Anyway after that nero would say that the CDRW is empty. OK so I try to record but then it said it's full! I figured that it probably didn't erase it well and tried again, this time with full erase. Well apparantly nothing would work (neither full nor quick erase) anymore! Nero just said that my CDRW is not a rewritable! I also tried to erase with CloneCD but it just displays "Waiting for *name of recorder* forever". My CDRW just keeps spinning the CD and I could hear a distinct popping sound in my speakers during that time! It was one pop that was repeating every 10 seconds. When I close CloneCD it stopped. What the hell is going on???
I'm totally lost any info would be appreciated. I'm pretty sure my CDRW is OK since I recorded CDs with no problem just a while ago... I just don't know anymore...

P.S.: I recorded some data to another CDRW 4x-10x yesterday and that one is OK. I can read off it with no probs.

  3. ooohhh-kaaaayyyyyyy.....
I tried burning that XSVCD I mentioned above. Well - same shit! If I try to play it, there is just darkness. If I try to copy the file to the disk, explorer says: "Cannot copy AVSEQ01: Invalid MS-DOS function".
Either my system decided to screw up all recorded SVCDs or I'm incompetent. I really hope it's the first option though
Come on guys, help me over here
