  1. I know there are problems with converting DIVX/XVID to MPG, with sync problems
but most of those seems to be reported as gradual problems

when i open an avi in VDub, it tellls me theres a sync error straight away
so i do as it says, rip it to wav

but when reencoded theres stilla sync problem

    how would i fix it?

edit the wav to start at the same point as the video?

when watched as an avi, theres no sync problems at all
ive checked for bad frams, and nothing

  2. You get this vbr error with virtualdub when you open up most divx files, but its not caused me a problem yet with audio sync atall, ive done loads to dvd. what is your problem exactly. please explain your process of converting to mpg, and i will try and help, depends on how much you are aware of setting, you may be slipping up a little somewhere, i use Tmpgenc, not had a prob yet with audio sync from Xvid or Divx.

Like Hercules Man says, your Vdub warning means that your audio is MP3 encoded using variable bitrate (VBR). Vdub cannot handle VBR audio properly so I use Goldwave to extract a wav file, it works for AC3 sound as well. Here's a guide.
