  1. I've got some clips from various sources I'm putting a dvd for a friend.

Anyhow, one of the clips is lower (even) field order and the other one is
    upper (odd).

So putting these two clips into the same video file is going to cause a problem.

Does anyone know of a way to convert from one field order to another?

    thanks

edit: n/m, it appears adobe has a function to reverse the field order of a clip. So I'll just convert the odd/upper to lower and it should be fine.

  2. i don't really think this method could be useful, if you're planning to change lot of videos, because you will have to render all the frames again, but i think is the only way.

    in AfterEffects:

    - Import your interlaced footage
    - Interpret Footage-> Separate Fields-> set to “Upper”
    - Import your interlaced footage again
    - Interpret Footage-> Separate Fields-> set to “Lower”
    - Create a New Composition
    - Add both footages to your Comp
    - Switch the fields order you need

these fields are acting like a Layer in you Comp, so if you have the Lower field in 1st place, you have to change the opacity to 50% and viceversa.

Apply the opacity always to the first layer.

    - Then render your project, that's all.

Note: If your planning to make this with a movie or something, that could take you lot of years. But is the way i know.

  3. thanks for the info.

These are just short 1 minute clips - putting together a friends "reel" for his acting resume of the stuff they've done.

    So re-rendering isn't too painful a proposition.
