    Hi
who knows an easy way from my own imovie film to a SVCD?
    Prefer step by step

    http://homepage.mac.com/johan/

Da brauchst du den teil mit Name.mpeg zu benützen

    Viel glück, und spass.

Are you doing PAL or NTSC?
    Are you using OSX?

If NTSC & OSX I can reply when I get home. I started to type it in from memory, but I don't think "go to the second tab from the right and click the third radio button from the top" will be that useful.

The good news is that I know a little German...he's right over there!

j/k don't really know German, but I couldn't resist. How often do you get to use that joke?

    is there an english translation/version?

i also need to find out a simple way of creating svcd from an imovie.

i tried creating vcd sucessfully using toast, but the quality is too pixelized.

    any help?

  6. Take only a look at the manual page from major: http://homepage.mac.com/major4. And by ffmpegX, take the quick preset for SVCD.
Try it, it is very easy.
    Good luck

    I thought so
    BUT:
I have OS X 10.2.6, ffmpegX 0.0.7 engine istaller, mpeg2enc (556 KB), mencoder (4,4 MB) mplayer (4.3 MB) all in the same folder.
Tryed to "install" and the installer asked for my password and ran and ran and ran for 10 min
    nothing happened.
    What did I wrong?

  9. Oh, yes your installation of ffmpegX and the binaries (mpeg2enc, mencoder and mplayer) seems to be wrong.

They should not be all in the same folder. Follow the instruction of the "engine installer". The binaries will be "invisible file" in your system.

I read a very developped installation explication. By: http://forum.carpo.org/viewtopic.php?t=467

It is in french, but you can try to translate with Softissimo: http://www.softissimo.com/index-e.htm

I tried it, (it is a little bit long, but good) it is different from what major says but ffmpegX works fine after that.

    Or, other possibillity,
the binaries are invisible. So may be they are weel installed.
So try to use ffmpegX and see if it works. Do not re-install 1000 x invisible file!

After that it will be easy to use ffmpegX.

    Hi,
with ffmpeg007 b installation of the three components mpeg2enc, mencoder and mplayer worked fine –*still in the same folder as ffmpeg and the fffmpeginstallerengine.
Afterwards I was to install libbogg and libvorbis (worked fine, installer opened and did the normal job, subtitles: installer was started and nothing happend)
Then I tried to encode a .mov-file and got the following error:
Encoding started on Fri Jun 13 08:52:19 CEST 2003
    ## Component Manager: attempting to find symbols in a component alias of type (regR/carP/x!bt)
++ WARN: [mpeg2enc] Generating dummy SVCD scan-data offsets to be filled in by "vcdimager"
++ WARN: [mpeg2enc] If you're not using vcdimager you may wish to turn this off using –d
    What´s to do??

  11. Fine,

now you can try to desactivate SVCD Scan. In the option tab: No SVCD Scan.

    Good luck

    Hi
    thanks so far
1.) Now i got 15 !!! new files for a imovie of originally 28 minutes, called:
    („M“ is the movie´s title)
    MSvcd.m2v
    MSvcd-1.mpg
    MSvcd-1.toc
    MSvcd-1_01.img
    MSvcd-1_02.img
    MSvcd-2.mpg
    MSvcd-2.toc
    MSvcd-2_01.img
    MSvcd-2_02.img
    MSvcd-3.mpg
    MSvcd-3.toc
    MSvcd-3_01.img
    MSvcd-3_02.img
    MSvcd.mp2
    MSvcd.mpg
I took the standard-paramters for SVCD PAL.
How can I mange to get it all together on 1 (one) CD-ROM?
    Thanks in advance

2.) When I tried to look at the rendering svcd by clicking on „preview“ I got t5he following error-message: No such file or directory
can't open '/Users/wolfgang/.mplayer/codecs.conf': No such file or directory
can't open 'etc/codecs.conf': No such file or directory
Can't open input config file /Users/wolfgang/.mplayer/input.conf : No such file or directory
Can't open input config file etc/input.conf : No such file or directory
Falling back on default (hardcoded) input config
The selected video_out device is incompatible with this codec.

MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: init_video_codec
    - MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM.
Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and
    disassembly. For details, see DOCS/bugreports.html#crash.b.
    - MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.
It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your gcc
version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read DOCS/bugreports.html
and follow the instructions there. We can't and won't help unless you provide
this information when reporting a possible bug. (1)

  13. Oh, yes it is many files. A too dificult question for me! But I see 4 possibilities. And hope on somebody with more knoledge.

    1. My Mplayer do not read well too. It is a beta version! So make a new subject for this in this forum.

    2. What you can also make is to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component for Quick Time. To take here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/products/mpeg2playback/ I have tried it and it works.
It cost a little bit, but you will read the .mpg files with Quick time. So you can see what is of your five pieces of film.

    3. You can look how big are the SVCD.img. Normaly with a 28 min. film you will have only 1 .img and you can burn it on a CD-Rom. So do you have 10x 600 Mo .img files or 10x 60Mo .img files? If you have 10x 600 .img files, burn one of them on a CD-RW to see what it is.

    4. You have only 1 version of the elementary files: Msvcd.m2v for the video and Msvcd.mp2 for the audio. That's good so you can make new the last phase of the préparation of the CD image. Put the other files in an other bag, so you can recongnise the new one. Use the tab tools, the right one : video tools. Broose to the Msvcd.m2v file, and broose to the Msvcd.mp2 file. So they are selected. Choose SVCD and press Mux as...
ffmpegX make a new Msvcd.mpg (peraps) and a new Msvcd.img that you burn. Try it I think it can be good. It take not a long time.

    Good luck

Disable the "Split in 3 chunks" preset in the tools tab just before encoding.

Do you get this error with all movies you try to preview? Which versions of binaries have you installed?

Sorry, it lastet a whlie. But now I rendered it again and got:
    xyz.svcd.mp2
    xyz.svcd.mpg
    xyz.svcd.toc
    xyz.svcd_01.img
    xyz.svcd_02.img
    xyz.svcd.m2v
    I have toast and OS X 10.2.6
How must I go on? Have I to mux something (the img-files) together to get a SVCD?
Your last question was, if the preview crashes each time:
    See:
: No such file or directory
can't open '/Users/wolfgang/.mplayer/codecs.conf': No such file or directory
can't open 'etc/codecs.conf': No such file or directory
Can't open input config file /Users/wolfgang/.mplayer/input.conf : No such file or directory

Open Toast and just drop the two .img files in the Toast "XA multitrack" mode window. Burn. The two .img files are all you need to burn with Toast. The .mpg file is meant for playback on the computer. The .toc file is meant for burning with MMB. The .m2v and .mp2 files are meant for further processing of video or audio.

Always use the last ffmpegX versions and run the last available installer version with the recommended binaries.
