    I recently acquired a DVD Rip in SVCD (mpg) format and i wish to convert it into a playable mpeg format or an avi. I know the video will work if I install, say, WinDVD 2000, but for my purposes I would like to convert to divx avi or standard mpeg. Any help would be appreciated.

    You gotta do a little reading. There is info on this site and http://www.digital-digest.com/nickyguides/quality.htm for most of the questions you might have.
