  1. I am converting clips from Hi8 to MPEG. In many cases there is a lot of noise produced by wind. I am using Winproducer 3 DVD and it has a long list of audio filters that can be applied. I assume many of these filters are standard. Being new in this area I wish to have help and guidance from experienced people. Thanks in advance.

Less curry and beer = less wind

Sorry, not much help but I could not resist.
My wife was panning over a glorious landscape with the DV cam. I was standing behind her and let loose a beauty - it had poise, pitch and even a bit of personality, it was that good.
I had to later edit out the noise, laughter and jerky video.
The glass is neither half-full, nor half-empty.
It is simply twice as big as it needs to be.

I suspect (hope) that you're talking about video taken under "windy" conditions and not the kind referenced by nerdboy69.

Sorry, I don't know of the exact filter needed although I suspect that there must be some way of doing it.

An interesting observation, however, that may lead you in the right direction, although it's been some time ago since I've done this. As I recall, during playback from a Hi8 stereo tape, if you select Dolby ProLogic rather than simple stereo on your receiver, the wind noise would always be in the rear channels. If you then muted the rear channels, then you could effectively eliminate the wind noise. I'm sure that the audio can be filtered to achieve the same results, but I don't know how. Hopefully, someone can assist.

Please post any positive results. Hope this helps.
