I believe you have to select '3:2 Pulldown' in the other settings tabs, also I believe your DVD player must support this, I've never tried it so don't know if it works.

let me know how you get on,

  4. Load the dvd ntsc template.
the settings are in the video tab :

dont change the framerate leave it as 29.97

under Encode mode select 3:2 pulldown when playback.

    im not sure about that...

couldnt find a 100% right way

    or did i ?

Or, even faster... take your 23.976fps video and run it through PULLDOWN.EXE to enable the proper flags. Takes about 5 minutes for about 4.5GBytes of video.

    Russ,
as you're this side of the pond, you're better off just converting it to PAL. in TMPGenc, set output frame rate to 25fps, and in the advanced tab check "do not frame rate conversion" then process your audio seperately in Bsweet, making sure it knows the fps is 23.976 -> 25 fps, and everything will turn out ok.

  10. Right sorted, all worked fine however.... the back two channels of my surround had some sort of static (sounded like listening to a shell). I sorted this by just switching the amp to 3 channel also when the sound got loud e.g a scream, shout etc... it screeched a bit. Any suggestions where I may be going wrong. I used flaninacupboard's method.

    Thanks for looking

Hmm, sounds like some sort of problem with Bsweet. i never had much luck with it myself, 1 in 5 files it output were garbage, and -nothing- it output would play on my pioneer. always figured it was "just me" because everyone else rates it so highly!
The AC3 encoder i use now is the one bundled with scenarist (a bit pricey at $40,000 though...) but i believe sound forge will re-encode your dolby digital signal.

Anyone else had this problem with Bsweet?

  12. K then I will try it with forge. Will post back when I have done it.

    Thanks for your input.

I don't think it's a problem with BeSweet, but more a problem with the GUI. I always process each step manually, rather then using the one-clip options. Especially when converting from one format to another, or from one framerate to another. I've taken to doing all of my regular audio (mp3/mp2/pcm) framerate conversion via AVISynth, and any 5.1 AC3 framerate conversions with AC3Machine (besweet introduces a ticking sound when converting 5.1 sound, where AC3Machine does a flawless conversion. Both can retain full 5.1 sound, but the BeSweet output is flawed by the noticable ticking sound.

typo..make that 'one-click', not 'one-clip'. If you do use BeSweet, convert each step manually, rather than clicking your PAL to NTSC, AC3 to MP2, and Resampling the Audio from 48Khz to 44Khz. That is what I meant by one click. Hopefully this is a bit clearer.

You can expect excellent audio quality from AVISynth too. Let us know how it goes!
