DVD Decrypter is great, has plenty of good features.
On the rare (1 in 60 or so) occasions that it won't rip the disc, I use Smart Ripper.
Both freeware, both in the Tools section here.- housepig

Housepig Records
out now:
Various Artists "Six Doors"
Unicorn "Playing With Light" -
Besides the above points, DVD Decrypter is also faster:

Plus you can burn discs, rip ISO image files, scan disc information/headers, etc. Great program. The newest verison even burns IC pdi files. -

DVDshrink doesn't rip. At least not from the standard "ripper" viewpoint. Ripping is just a partial feature.
DVD DECRYPTER is by far the best one right now. SmartRipper was okay, but this one is better now.I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored. -
DVD Shrink is the best to me.
Just choose the movie only then use DVD2One to rip all the audio streams that you do not want. The final size will be at 4.36GB and burn it with NeroExpress. -

It even allows you to pick and choose which segments (not entire VOBs or even entire chapters.. I'm talking about a "twelve-second segment here, and a 15 minute clip there, and this or that scene, but not the 10 seconds in the middle of the scene where there was something on the screen that I didn't like", etc...)
All in one step, no less.
The shrinking is actually the "extra" feature. I have not used SmartRipper or DVD Decrypter one single time since I've gotten DVD Shrink. This applies not only to backing up DVDs, but also to creating VCDs and SVCDs form a DVD source. It is my ripper of choice, and the only one I use. I'm not alone here, by the way... It is the preferred method of MANY experienced video veterans.
