  1. Hi All,

just thought i would let you know that i bought a new processor today. its an AMD XP BARTON 2500+! I already have a 2200+ but at £82-00 Inc VAT & delivery i couldn't resist. it is the retail version so they give me a HS & fan also! Get it from : http://www.scan.co.uk/products!

i thought it would be interesting to compare the encoding speed of CCE from my 2500+ with that of the 2200+. I know the speed varies with the settings used but i will save the settings in dvd2svcd and use exactly the same parameters!

I am also going to try to overclcock the processor a little, nothing too serious, perhaps increasing the voltage a little, but if i am luck i will get good stepping and hopefully be able to increase its speed to 2800+ or more without an increase in heat output!

And the best thing about it all? if it doesn't like being overclocked much, or i dont notice a significant increase in encoding speed all i need to do is take it to a local computer exchange shop where they will give me the same price for it!!! isn;t that great?!? So, at the worst i will loose nothing! at the best i will gain a highly overclokable processor for very little extra money! YEAH!!!!

i will post the encoding results in this forum when it arrives, should have it by the end of the week!
1)Why Not Overclock a little?! speed 4 free!!!!
    2) If your question has anything to do with copying PS2/PC/XBox games, find a more appropriate website

Won't you have to replace the motherboard as well? Did the Opterons even come out yet?

I think Win2003 can do it since its a server based application.
