  1. Hi

Just replaced my processor with a newer one, and when I click properties in my computer then I can see under computer only : AMD Processor model unknown. Why I get model unknown?
    Did I do something wrong?

get the latest bios from the motherboard man. web site. follow the instructions very carefully. after it's installed, re-boot back into the bios and "load safe defaults" or power off and clear cmos, before booting back into windows.

are you sure the cpu you installed is supported for the motherboard you installed it in? again you can get at the m.b. man. web site.

The easiest way to update your bios is put it on a usb flash stick and reboot and choose to update bios in the bios menu, might have to hit alt+f2 or similar when booting and choose the usb dir, check with your mb manual if your mb supports flashing this way.

If you dont update the bios or there is no bios update then you might have problems running the cpu with the mb,i had to replace my mb when i installed my phenom ii,said unknown processor and windows would freeze.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.
