I've converted these two DIXV files to it's video stream. Stripped the audio in VirtualDub then converted it back to mp2 in Ulead Media Studio Pro 7. If you are wondering why it's cause I've had nothing but problems with this file being accepted by apps. I finally got the cut right and everything in Ulead MSP 7. Then I multiplexed it in TMPGEnc. Now I have two DVD MPEG2 compliant files. Here is one of the problems I wasn't able to get around. It's when I try to Cut and Merge the two files. The first file is okay and at the part where the second file merges the audio becomes out of sync. Does anyone know the reason for this?
I have 2.511.51.160. What versions do you think are the best? Thanks

that is a common known problem with TMPGenc. sorry i don't have an exact answer for you off hand, but have run into this many times myself.
what I ended up doing was importing the 2 seperate movie files into the DVD author package and either creating a menu with links to "part 1" and "part 2", kinda lame OR have the end of part 1 automatically link to autoplay part 2, what i prefer - DVD Workshop can do this, SpruceUP can't.
there are a lot of threads talking about this issue, never found a reasonable solution. would be best to try and use another app to join them if you must. someone may have shared a good solution more recent than my readings so I'd search for this topic and see...
good luck. -
That's how I made the disc. I linked the first to the second with chapter selections on each file. It works. The only thing is that there is a pause between the two files and you cant chapter skip through the whole thing. You can go to the end of the first file then you have to select that on and continue chapter skipping. I made a menu so you can access the second part instantly. Thanks for the information. I think I'll try BBMpeg if it can do cuts and merges like TMPGEnc.
What do people call this anyway? TEMPEG, Tsunami, etc. I'm interested in knowing -
Can you not join the DIVX's back together into 1 file then using TMPGEnc:
Split using the Source Range and then Batch Encode into 2 MPEG2's."Today is only yesterdays tomorrow" -
I think I'm following what you are saying. Join the two avi's then convert it to mpeg2. The only thing I'm wondering about is why split it back into files when I want one? I guess I could try that. I don't really want to go through another 20 hours of encoding. I'm being picky cause I have an working first draft and thought it would be nice to chapter skip through to the end without having that barrier that was created by having two files. I might just do it again. I'll keep it in mind. I'm looking at other joining tools to see if that'll help since it's said that this is a known problem in TMPGEnc

I think you'll find that merging an AVI in Virtualdub (appending)is a lot more successful that trying to merge 2 MPEG2's in TMPGEnc.
(sorry i thought you wanted 2 files...did'nt read it properly)"Today is only yesterdays tomorrow" -
I read that about Virtual Dub earlier. I think I am going to try that. Thanks. The only thing now is that I'm going to spend some time on the audio since TMPGEnc has problems with that too since it's DIVX. Another day of encoding coming up

Just remember to extract the audio as a WAV using Virtualdub (unless its an XVID.....don't extract audio ,just feed straight into TMPGEnc).

I guess I'm going to learn more about Virtual Dub. I've always gone around it cause I don't know it that much. This'll give me a chance to face my fears. Thanks. These files have been such a problem that I'm looking for any chance to erase them. I guess I'll hold on to them alittle more and try to complete it the way I'd like it to be completed
