  1. I own a sony rx550 pc and just bought the sony burner today. The problem is that the driver does not fit...the front cover is too narrow for the tray to fit through. And the slot panel does not come off unless you intend to cut if off and ruin the look of your PC. Does anyone own a Sony PC and have the new SONY DRU500AX drive, and what did you do to solve this problem? STUPID SONY!!!!

  2. I do not own a Sony system, but most computer cases work the same way. CD-ROM drives are usually installed either thru the front of the case or from inside your computer. If you can, remove both sides of your computer. There is usually a couple of screws on the back of the case sides that hold the sides on. Once you get the sides off, check to see if the front of your computer, can also be removed. Look for an available drive bay, and remove any metal or plastic front cover, then slide the burner into the bay and secure with the screws provided. By the way, CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, and DVD Burners are all the same size, they just have different guts inside. Good choice on the Sony DRU-500a! I have had one for several months and absolutely love it. To date, no coasters yet. Use the DVD+RW, that comes with the unit to practice burning DVDs. Anyway, if you do not have any available drive bays, you will need to remove the CD-ROM drive that came with your system and replace it with the burner. Just make sure to change the jumpr in the back of the burner to the same setting the other drive was, i.e. Master or Slave. Hope this helps you
