  1. Ok, I ordered a 25-spindle of Ritek 4x's

now the first 7-10 I wrote all went at 2x (even when they said 4x). one day I tried to write 1 dvd which I had removed a video stream with instant copy, and I got this error in NERO:

    DVD-Video files reallocation failed

it asked me if I wanted to write the dvd anyway...and it worked. at 4x! it was real 4x, actually doing a full write in 15 minutes.

now here's the odd part. since then, EVERY burn has been at full 4x. I've done at least another 7.

    I'm using XP,
    firmware 2.0e
the sticker on the 25pack dvd-r was DVD-R/4X/NP07

and I have the nero-log from the time the "reallocation failed" if anyone thinks it could be usefull.

    wierd huh!?

    Sounds like it was exorcised.

Or maybe it has gone the other way and is possessed.

Maybe I should baptise mine or perform a sacrifice for it ... "here kitty, kitty!"

    Josh

I got the same error when I used an unbranded Princo 4X -R media as a test, the DVD Video reallocation thing; I just ignored it and promptly burned a 4.3GB disc in thirteen and three quarter minutes!!

So far I have tried an unbranded Princo 4X, a Pony 4X, a Bulkpaq Orange 4X, a DataWrite 4X, a Traxdata 4X and a Verbatim 4X in my Sony DWU12A multiformat, and they've all flown straight through at full 4X writing - course I am fairly sure at least three of them are basically the same disc.

    Keep on burnin!

  4. The Ritek x4 media problems have been posted loads of times before, they have always worked at x4 in my DRU-500A.

The Video Files Reallocation Error is due to a non 100% complaint DVD structure.

  5. I`m very intrigued and would like to know how you have done this,I did contact joshcali directly but no reply with the log, I`ve had my drive for 6 weeks now, when it first came changing from 2.0e to 1.0d via a forum allowed me to burn at 4x. but ever since I have only been able to burn at 2x no matter what firmware I use which is currently 2.0g any help would be appreciated, regards nipperlocko.

  8. no idea if it was luck or coincidence! but here's what I did...

in instant copy I started with a film that had both widescreen, and full frame, then removed a whole video stream (I dropped the full frame, and then just kept the widescreen).
when I went to write it gave me the error.

let me know if it does the same thing for you!

    cheers,
    -Josh
