  1. Hi,

I want to convert VHS to VCD but I am not sure which hardware
I need. I read some messages in the forum, and know that
Video capture card and TV tuner card can do that. If so,
Which card is better? Pls. give me the name of card with
    reasonable price.

    Thank you

  2. VHS to VCD does not need the best quality. If you are thinking ahead a better card is needed for VHS to DVD.

TV cards are generally not as high quality because they us the built in tuner as a source, only VHS as an after thought. A video capture card generally uses a VHS as source.

I have seen them as cheap $50. Look for the resolution of the output and if has a hardware encoder. You should also look around if any tech support can be found. For VCD you only need 352x240, SVCD 480x480, For DVD 704x480.

Read the reviews under capture cards section at left.
