    but what should i look for in a spec

    DVD
    DVD-R
    DVD-RW
    CD
    CD-R
    CD-RW
    MP3 on DVD and CD
    MPEG
    Optical and Co-ax Digital output

    but what else makes a better dvd player over a cheap one?

    PROGRESSIVE SCAN is useless unless you have HDTV or one of those digital tv, or you have the surround sound set hooked up to a decent regular big screen tv.

    correct me if i am wrong, thats what i read at best buy.
