HI,

Fairly new to this and still trying the best ways to achive this, but not with much success

I want to put 2 or 3 movies per DVD, this I can do easily once converted from AVI to MPG, then using ULead MovieFactory to create the menu and final DVD

Now, what I've noticed with MovieFactory is that is seems to convert the nicely converted MPG again, so it can squeeze 2 movies onto the DVD, dropping the quality even more, not what I want, even though the 'Do not convert MPEG' setting is used

My main aim, and I have used a bitrate calculator, to work out the best CBR to fit 2 movies onto a DVD. I ain't got a widescreen TV, so it has to be the 4:3 format

Basically, what encoders are the best to take any AVI, convert to the MPG using my CBR settings, and also convert to the DVD format, ready to burn onto a DVD-R, using MovieFactory

Or, is it just better to let MovieFactory do all the work, select the AVI in MovieFactory, and let it convert them both to the DVD standard, that way I can fiddle about with the settinsg in MovieFactory to get the best fit on the DVD, instead of what I think is happening, and the final out is converted again

So, instead of being converted once, each movie ends up being converted twice, reducing quality each time.

Also, I'm only putting 2 movies on a DVD, if they are less than 120 minutes, any more, then it goes on its own DVD, EG Gladiator, is on 1 DVD, but the HellRaiser movies are 2 per DVD as they are only around 90 minutes each

I want to convet them first, currently using MainConcept MPEG Encoder, as its the fastest, as does what I want it to do,

If anybody has any better suggestions, please, let me know
