i came across a small detour when trying to encode only the menu and movie. at first i wanted all of the extra junk with the movie and after i had seen a few of my movies on my tv, i had noticed that the movie wasnt getting the neccessary space to have a good quality image. so for the past two weeks i have encoded my my dvd movies with just the menus and the main movie..nothing else to get that "original dvd like" feel. out of dvd2one, pinnacle, and dvd shrink, it seems that pinnacle is the program that has this options. just unclick on the all the junk that i dont need, BUT it takes forever to encode. as for dvd2one, it only has features or options to encode the movie only or the entire dvd. as for dvd shrink. pinnacle is the only one i use due to its option of easy unclicking junk that u dont want. i havent figured out all of the options yet. i have to tinker with it for a while to realy know it and what i want from it. has anyone tried this method on dvd shrink..let me know![]()

if you unclick with IC7, the DVD will be unreadable since IC7 don't change the IFO. I made a test and it was unreadable on my HD with PowerDVD and my standalone DVD.
The only way I know is IFOedit + DVD2one (or any other)
Look the vobs where extra are.
Open each one (one by one) with IFOedit.
Take a look at this part of tutorial:
http://www.deano.dsl.pipex.com/backup/ifoedit4.htm
Replace all the new files made by IFO edit
Once you have "ripped" all the junk, just make a Full dvd copy with DVD2one, DVDShrink or IC7.
it look hard, but it's very easy and worked fime 2 time for me.. I use this way for all now.. I only have a burner for 2 week now, so i'm still a newbee. -
hmm.. well on pinnacle, i have always unclicked all the stuff that i didnt need and just left the menus and the main movie and burned it on a dvd-r using the same software. it played fine on my standalone and on my pc without any problems. i have been doing this for quite some time now. i guess ill just stick with pinnacle for a while for my way of doing dvd-r backups 'till dvd2one has that option integrated in its program. i have been burning movies for over 3 years now so i have a good feel for all the programs that i have. i used to do it the old way, which was through ifoedit, but when pinnacle, dvd2one, dvd95copy, etc came around i stopped using ifoedit sense these programs could do that already. in a way i cant complain considering i came a long way from 1 to 2 day encoding from dvd 2 svcd using TMPGEnc back when dvd burning software were almost non existent. so i guess an hour and a half isnt so bad

u may be right about that(about replaceing the dvd player due to non compliant dvds), but i have had my dvd player for about 2 years now. and my dvd player is an apex, the brand that many people had known as the 6 month machine. after a few months of usage the dvd player would stop functioning properly. i guess im one thos lucky ones in the bunch that has a good tetsmonial after 2 years with the same apex player.
if one day my dvd player decideds to rest(not function), then i will have to buy a new dvd player and also i would make my dvd-r's with just the movie intact. until then i will just do it this way so that i could have that "original dvd look" without the junk
