  1. I noticed shrink seems to work fine when converting straight from a DVD rather than ripping first. Am I missing something here?

  2. I agree that most of the time it works fine. However, if I have a movie with weird VTS (vob) sets, I like to rip with DVD Decrypter first, and then take my time sorting out what I want to do.

  3. I always rip first with SmartRipper. Sometimes the DVD turns out to be a single layer so then I can just burn it. Looking at the files I may elect to use DVDshrink or perhaps DVD2one.

I read somewhere that DVD Shrink does not remove macrovision when you compress from the DVD so your copy will still have macrovision.

Just out of curiosity, how long does DVD Shrink take. If it's over 15 minutes, wouldn't you be resting your DVD by writing to the HDD, rather than running it for X # of hours? DVDx has a setting to use RAM to save the DVD. Wouldn't this make sense for DVD Shrink or any other program? Assuming the HDD has the free space for 8 gig of vobs.
