I'm not exactly a Newbie (I've fairly familiar with the simple VCD solutions), but since I'd never posted on this board, figured this was the place to start.
I'm trying to cut up a 825 MB MPEG to burn onto 2 discs in VCD format. The original file plays flawlessly on my computer, but I just need to break it up to burn to disc for play in a DVD player.
My problem is when I cut it with TMPEGenc the sound and the video were fine for the first 11 minutes or so, then I just completely lost the sound for the rest of the file.
I tried using bbMPEG as another option and that effort left me with sound, but when you skip forward in the file (I just checked it in windows media player to get past the 11 minute mark), you retain video, but lose sound again.
My only other idea was to de-multiplex the file and cut the audio and video separately, then re-merge, but the odds of the cuts and re-merge being precise don't seem high. Also, I don't know a program to edit/cut .mp2 audio files, since I couldn't seem to get TMPEGenc to do it.
Anyone have a solution for this problem or dealt with this before?

I sort of have a solution, i think! I am no more experienced than you but i had a similar problem with Tmpceng when cutting, sometimes my file would go out of sync, but my main problem was tmpgenc crashing when inputting some mpeg files, this is a known problem as i have trawled through all the forums and websites for an answer but no one came up with more than " playing for a second and pausing before you cut" (in the mpeg tools, mege & cut).
I thought i would try running it in safe mode, and it worked great i dont get any lock ups or out of sync problems in tmpgenc anymore, it may be worth trying this!
Hope this helps, please let me know. -
By running in safe mode, I'm assuming you mean the computer right?
or does TMPEGenc have a safe mode feature of some kind I'm not aware of?
Even so, I'm not sure it addresses my problem. The first 11 minutes of the file were synced perfectly, it just suddenly lost sound after that and it never came back.
I never had a problem with it crashing either, so I'm assuming it runs fine on my computer.
I'll give it a shot I guess after I try out another program or two, plus some other tweaks I've seen for TMPEGenc.
thanks for the reply!
