I'm starting to transfer all my old VHS tapes to DVD, and in doing this I've decided to play through my DV camcorder and record via WinDV. The problem is that the resulting .AVI/DV gradually strays out of audio sync by the end of the 2 hours. The sync error is about 1 to 2 seconds. I googled and saw that Type 1 capture was better, and I tried that but no luck, the audio still strays out of sync. There are no dropped frames!
UPDATE: OK, I double checked the AVI in TMPGEnc cut edit window (VirtualDubMod does not play Type 1 DV) and it appears the Type 1 AVI/DV is perfectly fine and it is strictly a TMPGEnc encoder error. With Type 2 AVI it was definitely a WinDV problem as the AVI was out of sync so I thought the same thing was happening here. Gah. OK, I will start the appropriate TMPEGEnc thread elsewhere.
