I'm using Pentium 2 350 mhz to capture videos. I want to capture higher resolution videos but everytime I does that....the video is kinda laggy...lots of frame drops. I'm using a 5400 rpm hard drive.....is that why my captures become like that? or some other factors.... Please help me...

I'd say that based on the brief PC spec you've supplied it most certainly is your processor, combined with possible your...
    ...capture card.
    What is your capture card?

Also, what kind of compression used? I think a P2 @ 350 might be able to do it if using Picvideo MJPEG codec, maybe quality 17/20 and disabling preview/overlay in VDub. As VDub only supports VfW drivers (you need to use a wrapper if using WDM drivers), you should get better results when running Win 98 and using VfW drivers for your capture card.

Hi..i'm using PICvideo MJPEG compression...sometimes I also use huffyuv. I don't use Virtual Dub because dunno what error message they give me so i change to other software...now..i'm currently using iuVCR. About the mjpeg compression...i tried setting to 10 ...and it still never works...frame still drops like rain drops

At the moment i'm using a 5400 rpm HDD...do you think by upgrading a new HDD with 7200 rpm would help me to solve my prob...or ...other things?

I'm using Lifeview 3000 flyvideo. Could anyone advice me more?

Your settup is way too slow for DVD resolution. The only way to do it is get a hardware based capture card, and for that $$$ you can get a new mobo/cpu.

I think it's hard to get Flyvideo 3000 working with VirtualDub, since it's not based on Bt8x8 chip. I would still try different settings in iuVCR (first of all, disable all preview and capture blindfolded. Then, try PicVideo Q19 and Q18. Try if you can capture 352x576 and 480x576 resolutions.

If nothing else works, find out what's the fasterst processor that fits onto your MB.

  9. The minimum spec for even watching an MPEG 2 DVD file fullscreen is a 400MHz processor, so I don't fancy your chances in being able to capture that quality if a file on a 350MHz PC! Your only hope is to get a hardware capture card like the PVR250 as that will encode on the fly and leave your processor alone.

Watching full DVD res. mpeg2 takes more processor power than capturing it with PicVideo mjpeg codec!

  12. If you use a Dazzle 2 pci card you can do it. I think I have a Dazzle 2 pci card and I have a p2 400 and i can capture DVD no problem's Dazzle 2 is a hardware not software card. I under clock my cpu one time when I reset the bois on the mother board at 350 and did not know it until I check the bois again and my capture had no problem i did reset it to 400. if your mother board can take a P2 400 or higher I would upgrade you might find a used cpu on ebay for $10.00 buck's and just get the Dazzle 2 PCI card

  14. Just buy a new computer and avoid the headaches. You can get a complete computer(no monitor) for under $400 that will fit your needs nicely.

  16. What OS are you running? If you have 256MB consider running Windows 2000 or XP. The Fly3000 seems to perform better on these OSes. Also use iuVCR with this card as it only has WDM support.

You maye be able to get 640*480*YUV2 capturing in iuVCR if the preview is disabled. Also obtain the 20.51 drivers from the Lifeview website as they fix a major issue with YUV2 capturing.

    P.S. Try Fly2000TV. It's designed for the Lifeview 2000/3000 cards. http://auzol.narod.ru/index_e.html
