    I looked on the compatibility list and by all accounts, it can play VCDs. But when I put my VCD in the player, it doesn't play, giving me an error about how it doesn't support that disc type. I'm pretty sure the disc itself isn't the problem because I can play it on my computer. Thanks in advance.

    I own that player, and I play VCDS all the time, in fact, I just finished watching one. Make sure you're using a half-way decent program like Ulead DVD MF 2. Do not use NERO

    I also can play VCD on the DV31. It will NOT play SVCD.
    Try disconnecting the power cord, then plug it in again. This resets the player. I also recomend DVD Movie Factory 2, also Neo DVDPlus 4 should work.
