Ok I'm new to this and i was wondering is there a way to make compliant dvd's that i can put on regular cd-r's?

Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.

There is but you may find it unplayable on DVD players.
Mini-DVD's are DVD video disks on CD. You need a video_ts folder with vob, bup and ifo files created in a DVD authoring app.
Most DVD players will NOT play Mini-DVD's. But you should be able to play it on a computer with DVD playback software.
