I have seen this capture card here as one of the top 7 recommended on this forum. What is the advantage of this firewire card over a standard firewire card? Are there any hardware encoding capabilities on this card? Is this a good card for analog captures of vhs and 8mm tapes? I was just curious.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

    :P

  2. No, it's a standard firewire card. You can get a generic one for $30. When I got my Pinnacle (because it came with Studio 6 software), the TI chipset was preferred; I dunno if that's still the case.
