What software are you presently using? If you want a easy conversion, look at ConvertXToDVD. For freeware, the older DivxToDVD is still available.

If you want more control over your final product, for quality, you would need to study our guides. Episodic DVDs are easy enough to create, even with freeware programs. If you look to the left you will see the guides for the procedures to create a DVD. CAPTURE>CONVERT>AUTHOR. If you already have the video, skip the first one. Burning to DVD is the easy part. For a episodic DVD, look to our 'AUTHOR' guides and you should see several methods to produce that type of DVD.

First, you need to encode the files to DVD compliant video. For DVD specs, see 'WHAT IS' DVD. Then you need to author it to the DVD format. For freeware, DVD Authorgui or GUI for dvdauthor will work fine. If you have some money to spare, TMPGEnc DVD Author is very easy to use and fairly inexpensive. Also TMPGEnc encoder is good for conversion to MPEG-2 DVD format. Both have trial versions and are a good place to start.

    And welcome to our forums.

Why convert? Just burn them as data files. You can fit a lot more episodes per disc that way.

Get a cheap DivX player and you can even watch them on your TV. This is just an example and not meant as a recommendation:

ImgBurn is good. Check the AVI files first to see if they have packed bitstream, use MPEG4Modifier for this. If they have PB, simply unpack them using MPEG4Modifier.

Start ImgBurn, hit CTRL+ALT+B, hit the magnifying glass icon and select your files, select your write speed then hit the burn icon.

Right, so you have burnt the AVI files to a data DVD using ImgBurn? What device are you then using to play them from the disc?

Just out of interest why did you totally ignore my advice about using ImgBurn? I'm not having a go at you but it's pretty galling for me when I give you advice and you just ignore it! Please try burning the files with ImgBurn.

The only reason I suggest using ImgBurn over ashampoo is that i've never used ashampoo, for all I know it's very good software. It's just I use ImgBurn a lot and I KNOW it's good software and doesn't change the data in any way.

I use Record Now to burn multiple .avi files to DVD, mainly because it came free with my PC. No problems except that ImgBurn insists on a full reformat before burning a true DVD to the same disc.

You cannot just burn "avi" to dvd and expect flawless play ... you must check them out first .

A pc will play anything provided the correct decoders are installed .

Top set players WILL NOT ...

Use gspot to find out what they contain in video and audio ... most players are fine with xvid and mp3 audio ... I dont know how the players handle different "frames per second" though ... this could be an issue ...

I use super to do the fps conversion , and to xvid with mp3 audio , then burn as data .
Though I pass the video through vdub for rescaling and boxing , so all video is same scale ... make's it simple to join them later if required .

Ashampoo dose quite well , though I am a fan of imgburn , and nero .

    ===================

My player supports folder navigation , so each gose into a seperate folder and is burnt as data .
