    There are many programs to do this job, GK is one, others you may give a try to avi.net and FairUse Wizard. I personally prefer avi.net as it gives me the results I want with very little tweaking and is lot faster than AutoGK.

    If you talk in terms of settings, thats a very tough question asit depends on the type of movie and few individuals prefer final output size over the bitrate or frame size etc. So far, at least I failed to find how some individuals claim (on DivX forum) that they can fit 2 hour movie in 700mb file, using bitrate of about 1000kbps
    So either go for AutoGK or Avi.net, everything is well set there!
