How much time do you want to spend learning how to do it ?

If it is a quick one-off, the free version of DivxtoDVD will do as good a job as any one-click-wonder, and a lot more reliably than most.

If you want to learn how to do this to get the best possible quality you can (note : this is heavily dependent on the quality of the source - which generally isn't as good as you think it is), then you will need to learn a variety of programs. This is as good a place to start as any http://members.dodo.com.au/~jimmalenko/AVI2DVD.htm

  4. Divx to Dvd is great software for what you are trying to do. Especially if you ant to fit more than 1 movie on a dvd. Another option is, The FilmMachine which, while slower than Divx To Dvd, allows you to use standalone encoders like Canopus Procoder or CCE. Either option is a good choice.
