7/16s of one inch.
That's all the distance you have to move your smallest finger in order to not look like an obnoxious idiot.
You're also likely to get more helpful answers if you describe the entire procedure you're using. What software you're using to burn the disc is always a good start."It's getting to the point now when I'm with you, I no longer want to have something stuck in my eye..." -
I REALLY HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE TYPE IN ALL CAPS IT TENDS TO IMPLY THAT THEY ARE EITHER VERY YOUNG CHILDREN OR COMPLETELY IDIOTIC ADULTS OR SIMPLY CRAZY BEYOND ALL HOPE.
IT'S A SMALL THING BUT STILL PEOPLE WHO TYPE IN ALL CAPS ARE ANNOYING AS ALL HELL.

Finally, you would do well to remember that noone here is obligated to answer your question. We do not get paid to be here, so if you present your question obnoxiously with no helpful information, it is very likely that people will respond in kind. Without knowing what options you have turned on during either stage of the process, it is hardly likely that people can be expected to be too helpful.[/quote]"It's getting to the point now when I'm with you, I no longer want to have something stuck in my eye..." -
I think this might happen when you have a lot of left over room on the disk. The burn finishes and the program indicates that it is done but it is still doing something with the rest of the space on the disk.
This is just a theory in progress. Might be a dumb one.
(Out of curiosity, why DID you type in all caps in your first post? One of the very first rules you learn in forums is that all caps is shouting. I'm not looking to flame you over that again I just wonder if some people just use all caps for their every day work and then when they post to a forum it is just on, OR are they using all caps because they think it gets more attention, or something else. ) -
spiritwalker,
There are many of us who are willing to help you, but SHOUTING at us is NOT the way to get the help you want. What you'll get is flamed to a crisp.
Seeing how you have chosen not to give the necessary information in your profile you must think we are mindreaders. Therefore I guess that you have a 486 computer with 48K of RAM and 5 meg HD, with Windows 3.1. Please correct me if I am wrong.
The most likely reason for your drive not to open is that the DVD has failed to finalize. More then likely the cause is bad media. Once again it would be nice to know what type you are using. I would guess that it's the cheapest stuff you could buy.
The next time this happens try looking at the processes in Task Manager and see if you are hung up in some process. You shouldn't just reboot the computer to clear this problem, you lose any system information to help troubleshoot the problem. Instead insert (carefully) an unbent paper clip in the little hole in the front of the drive, push until the door is released.
Your app should terminate with some type of drive error. Now apply standard Windows troubleshooting steps to find out why the process hung up. (try checking the Dr. Watson file). -
