    Hi everybody

I ripped my U571 movie dvd with DVD Decrypter. Re-authoring to "movie-only" with DVD Shrink resulted in 2 VTS VOB-sets (as on the original dvd also 2 separate VOB-sets for each half of the movie).

So I tried DVD Author. Selected the 2 separate titles in the same track. Now, the result is a dvd with 1 VOB set only (01_1 through 01_5). So far so good, thus.

Only, @ the point where on the original dvd the title-break was, the burnt backup dvdr has a video & audiobreak, when I play it on my standalone dvd-player. Just like a break when it changes layer.

Now, since the movie is 1 VOB-set, is there a way to make it continuous? It seems to me that DVD Author doesn't do a smooth "seamless" job within 1 track.

Strange thing is, when I take a look at the DVD Author's created VOBs, they are all neatly 1 GB (except the last, of course) and the break must be somewhere in the the 3rd VOB, my guess

    Thanks in advance all

    I have the same experience.
TMPG DVD author does NOT properly join MPEG2/VOB files together.
With some DVD players there will be a slight pauze/break at the point where the clips were joined.
    I discussed this before:
    https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=258137
    https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=1330516#1330516

The solution is to edit/join the clips first with another good MPEG2 editor.
Most I use TMPGEnc MPEG Editor for that stuff but MPEG2VCR and MPEG2SCHNITT also worked fine for me.

Also the newer TMPGEnc DVD author 2.0/Pro will probably join the clips correctly. But i did not try those programs.

Thanks the_doman, I'll try the DVD Author trick first, as my dvd-rip has 5.1 AC3.

    cheers

Edit: Tried the DVD Author "trick" with version 1.6. Didn't work

Secondly I downloaded & installed Tsunami DVD Author Pro 2.0 trial. Didn't do the job either

So, back @ square 1 my guess. Can you tell me how you did this in mpeg2schnit? I can't add VOBs in the prog.

    cheers

    Edit:
Hmmm. Just thinking out loud here, but maybe it has something to do with audio delay? Like DVD Author can't do it seamlessly, because there is an "audio-gap", so to say?
I'll go try to demux the streams, "repair" the audiostreams with AC3 Delay Corrector, and mux back together. Just see what happens.

Edit: no, didn't work either in DVD Author. Besides, I have the feeling here I'm trying to re-invent the wheel...

A pure guess, not every mpg2, or ac3 has a clean cut. Perhaps you might do the Shrink twice barely cutting the end of one clip, beginning of the other? Or I've had luck with Project X. Either way cutting to 1 or 2 i frames might not be as noticable as the complete break.

Before you can use Mpeg2Schnitt you need to demux the MPEG's/VOB's first
ProjectX works very good for that.
When demuxed you can edit/join the clips properly with Mpeg2schnitt.

You can try what you want, TMPG DVD author will NOT properly join the clips.
You need a proper MPEG2 editor for that.
(The TMPGEnc MPEG Editor will do it correctly)

The fact is most people won't notice any problems because their DVD player won't pauze at the joints. (Or they don't notice it)
Also when playing back on the PC you won't see the problem.
