Anyone having this problem? I made sure all the plug-ins are checked. I'm able to play my movie completely fine from start to finish in VLC media player.
I get the error saying it can't import the video part of my AVI file, only audio. How do you fix this or get it to work?
Also I've tried multiple AVI files, old ones and new, all the same thing. This is driving me nuts!
And yes, I did read the other thread exactly like this but I'm having problems with all the AVI's that I'm trying to import. Is there some codec I'm missing?

Can you play the avi in windows media player without problems? Becuase vlc media player has builtin decoders.

Is K-Lite even recommended? If not what's a good codec package without all the junk? -
Mega codec packs are generally a bad idea. Many of these don't play nice together. Search this site, and you'll see lots of posts from folks complaining about locking up their systems, etc. after installing such packs.
It's better to use a more targeted, measured approach, rather than shot-gunning. First, find out what codec is used in your source video and audio. There are lots of tools, like Gspot, that will identify the type and characteristics of the source file. If the format is not supported natively in whatever player/transcoder etc. you use, then simply download and install the needed codec(s). -
Ahhh I see. That's a very useful tool. I see even after just looking at a couple of AVI files, there's already a different codec on another file. WHere's the best place to get codecs from that's reliable and trustworthy?
