I have a Concert DVD I want to get the audio on a CD. I usually use DVD Decrypter, but on this one, it doesn't "see the media" when I put the DVD in. What can I do?
Thank you,
Chris.

Take out the DVD. Reboot your computer. Put in some other media, A DVD you burned yourself, a Windows installation CD/DVD, anything that's not copy protected. Browse to it to be sure it's mounted and working. Start up DVD Decrypter. Hold down a shift key while putting the DVD in the drive. Continue holding down the shift key until Windows has noticed the disc and finished futzing with it. This may take as long as a minute or two. DVD Decrypter should now see the DVD.

It didn't work. I noticed it can't even be played on the DVD Drive (Michael Jackson, Live in Bucharest). It shows it as nothing there.
The drive is working, others show up.

Is it an actual pressed dvd (store bought) or a dvdr ?
And you tried it 2 different drives on your pc ? -
Does a normal DVD player recognize it? If not, did you record it in a DVD recorder? If so, put the disk back in the DVD recorder, then finalize the disk. Then try it again in the PC.

It's a store bought DVD. It plays fine on my DVD player, just not in a computer.

I thought maybe I could put it on the HD with DVD Shrink, then try it.
Shrink doesn't see it ether. What to do when a disc is not recognized?
Gotta be a way,
Chris. -
Try DVDFab HD Decrypter.
Try it on another PC. It could be your drive. It could be the disc. Michael Jackson recorded for Sony, so the disc could be using ARCCOS, but ARCCOS protected DVDs should show up - you just can't rip them correctly with DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink, but they definitely will show up and let you start ripping. The ripping just fails with errors on those 2 programs. -
I tried DVDFab HD Decrypter and it didn't work.
Every CD works but this one, so it's not the drive.

Your DVD-disk is most probably copy/piracy protected by som scheme, which makes it playable on your standalone DVD-player, but unreadable to your PC.
DvdShrink and similar software has the capability to circumvent some of those protection schemes but not all.
If your PC can not see the content of the DVD-disk, and DVDShrink or HD Decrypter can not circumvent the protection schemes used by the manufacturer of your disk, you should try "AnyDVD" From Slysoft.
http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html
It works between your DVD-drive and the software you use, say DVDShrink. It fixes the errors the disk-manufacturer deliberately has put on the disk, and feeds DVDShrink with readable unscrambled data.
Not freeware, but effective. -
I thought the protection the came out after DVD Shrink, was taken care of by DVD Decrypter. Decrypter came out to do movies that Shrink couldn't.
Why not have updates that do newer protection schemes?

DVD Decrypter is no longer updated; AnyDVD and DVDFab HD Decrypter are.

If you tell us the title of the DVD disc perhaps someone will be able to assist you with your problem.
It could just be that there's some copy encryption on the disc so it can't be ripped.
Have you tried it in another DVD BURNER/ROM? -
I guess the only way is to hook my DVD Player Audio to the sound card and do it in real time

happydog try the free dvdfab decrypter. it not the old dvddecrypter, it's a different program.

happydog500: Can you see the contents of any other DVD or CD (test it again, even if it's worked before), or is it just that particular DVD?
(To all: Since jman98 implied happydog500's DVD was possibly a Sony disc... wasn't one of the 'features' of the Sony rootkit hiding a disc's contents? (No, seriously. I only vaguely remember what that rootkit did.))If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? -
