i am using FAVC to convert my DV-AVI that i capture from my JVC camera to DVD

i found that there video is not smooth like the DV-AVI file

asking here and there and people said that i should encode using interlaced and BFF

i noticed that HCenc encode using ZIGZAG mode not interlaced and not BFF

how can i make FAVC encode using interlaced and BFF

    thanks?

Move on to AVStoDVD another free app that can use HCenc and is constantly being improved/updated. It will allow many adjustments and it will recognize your DV source. It's a bit confusing at first but the Help File is quite complete and well written.

i'll try that software, but i hope that the problem of the dvd is not smooth as DV-AVI is the interlaced option only..cause i am out of ideas

  4. Yeah, but whether zigzag or alternate scanning were used has nothing to do with whether or not it was encoded as interlaced (although alternate scanning is prefered for interlaced encoding). I expect it was encoded as interlaced (as opposed to progressive). It is possible that it was encoded as TFF where it maybe should have been encoded as BFF. If the wrong field order was assumed, it would play real jerky. You can use ReStream (among other apps) to discover which field order was set in the encoder. In the 'Picture Encoding Extension' section either the 'Top Field First' box will be checked or it won't (meaning BFF). It'll also tell you if it was encoded as interlaced (the 'Frametype progressive' box will be unchecked).

I couldn't tell you, unless you want to upload a short 10 second sample of the DVD output from a section that shows movement. Use the [ and ] buttons of DGIndex to isolate a small piece and upload it to a 3rd party file hosting site, one like MediaFire.

Did you try with AVStoDVD? If yes, post here the log file, because it has many useful info about input file and output DVD.

AVStoDVD does the calculation for you. Trust it. Anyway 3 hours are already a big amount of frames, so be prepared to have a quality impact.
