I've been going through a really big headache with my PC. A few days back, it started acting up. I'll be using it like normal (which usually means running BitTorrent and surfing my frequently visited websites using Firefox), and suddenly it completely freezes for a few seconds, then a totally blue screen appears, giving me a weird error message about my computer needing to shut down to avoid damage. It suggested clearing the cache as one problem solver, so I tried to do that but it is still acting up. I don't have a clue what its problem is, but its driving me mad. My dad is pretty smart where computers are involved, so I asked him, and his best guess is that the registry is full (and if it is I have no clue if or how I can empty the registry other than going through the hell of redoing the entire computer. I took a picture of the error screen, which I've posted below.

Just a *small* possiblity that it's this, but the timing of your problem matches up with the out break:

Surprisingly, the worm has avoided Ukrainian altogether, as Microsoft states that no cases of infections have been reported in that country.
Never heard of a country called Ukrainian.

Most likely a trojan or corrupt system driver, unlikely the register is too full, never heard of the Ukraine?
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
You've caught a bug. Sure and simple. Run any anti-virus, anti-spyware program you have and then some. If no joy, nothing shows up and you still have the problem, then format and re-install your windows. Thirdly, if you re-install and this still happens, then consider that your HDD may be giving up the ghost.
Oh, and when you post a picture, please resize it to within 1200 pixels wide so that if and when someone manages to open it they're not wizzing leftright, up and down to see anything. -

Here's one page on BSOD codes: http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/Windows-XP-Blue-Screen-Death-STOP-Codes-t43519.html
You can also do a internet search for ' bsod codes ' and find more listings. BTW, BSOD sceens make a great screen saver to cause panic for your computer friends. Set them for about 30 minutes so it will take a while to show up.
EDIT: I'm not so sure this has anything to do with malware, unless it's result of it. Looking at that screen shot, I see ndis.sys listed as the problem. NDIS = "Network Driver Interface Specification". So I suspect your LAN adapter card drivers. Try uninstalling them in Device Manager, then reboot and make sure the correct ones are installed. Or if you don't use the LAN adapter, disable it in BIOS. -
Someone posted this message at the website mentioned above ...
Stop 0x0000000A or IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Can also be caused by incorrect BIOS settings, just reset your BIOS settings in that case. -
yah, looks like an IRQ conflict.
you recently install a new card?
You can check your mobo user's manual for a chart/list that shows which slots share IRQ addresses."To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright
"Megalomaniacal, and harder than the rest!" -
@Xylob the Destroyer: I didn't install a new card recently.
@lacywest: what's BIOS? How do I reset the settings on it?
okay, well, I'll try running my virus protections for starters. Thanks for all the help so far, guys.
P.S. Sorry about the gigantic picture. XD;;;"They will walk after the LORD, He will roar like a lion; indeed He will roar and His sons will come trembling from the west." - Hosea 11:10 -
Is see you are downloading, BitTorrent, and using Firefox. Are you using Norton? If so, here is a copy of a post from a few weeks ago:
I've had similar problems. It was Firefox conflicting with Norton. The first download of any file works and the second crashes Firefox. I had the problem with images. The fix is at the following link:

The fix is the post of Wed Oct 22, 2008 by Dmitry
The problem started with a Norton update. The fix is to go into Norton: Options: AV: Real-Time Protection
- then disable/uncheck "Turn on scanning for Microsoft Office Documents" -
Sorry the link does not seem to work anymore. Here is another link:

The fix is still the same:

I agree with redwuz. Your nic card or onboard nic is getting ready to die. Try disabling it in device manager (you won't have an internet connection after doing so) and try messing around with it disabled. If you can't get it to blue screen then I would then uninstall the card and reinstall it (after a reboot) and use the most recent drivers for your motherboard or nic card. Let us know of your progress.

Well after my most recent post here I tried running all sorts of virus protection and scans and the like. It still did the same darn thing. So I guess we can move on to another approach. Maybe I'll give what redwudz and PolarbeaR have been saying a try if I can. Thanks for the help, all. I'll try to come back and give an update once I've attempted this.
btw, I use MacAfee, which I don't THINK has any relation to Norton, but..."They will walk after the LORD, He will roar like a lion; indeed He will roar and His sons will come trembling from the west." - Hosea 11:10 -
Sorry to double post, I just wanted to pop in and say I think its fixed. I experimented with a few ideas and it appears that the problem was a torrent I was trying to download was getting on my PC's nerves. I stopped the guilty party and sure enough, its gone 2 or 3 days now with no crashes at all. ^_^ Thanks a lot for all of the help, everyone. I really appreciate it.
