I didn't say anything at the time, but I question your advice of the AddBorders(0,120,0,120) as it seems you're advising adding those numbers to every video source, but for most it'll be incorrect. And the usual procedure is to resize followed by the AddBorders command. And you don't need AddBorders any longer anyway, as YouTube now keeps the aspect ratio by adding black bars to widescreen videos at playback time. Just resize to the proper 1:1 widescreen resolution and upload that. Unless you have some reason for encoding the black as part of the video.
Yes I know that youtube gives black belts automatically but when they do not add and upload video for example, in a resolution of 480x290 youtube does not give us the 'Watch in high quaity "or higher bitrate 632kbit/s

Then I should thank you for that. Maybe I should have put two and two together and figured it out myself, but I uploaded 3 widescreen videos last week and didn't get the "High Quality" option. The only way to get the higher quality was to add "&fmt=18" to the end to get the MP4 version. Seems odd, doesn't it, that although they now play the widescreen videos properly, they won't create a "High Quality" FLV for them.

If you upload a mp4 widescreen you wont get high quality link, but you can get it uploading da same file in mkv. :P

The same happened to me. I fixed it by adding a space at the beginning:

Yeah, that's really 2 spaces in this example, but I couldn't make it indent just one space.
    Simple, but works - THANKS

Best if you use virtual dub mod with avisynth
(Regulate borders set resolution to 800x600)

Why can't we use 2-pass for VP7? Also, is there any reason it doesn't give you the "watch in hd" bar even though it makes the HD file?

    I get this error...

    AviSynth script error:
    LoadPlugin: unable to load"C"\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\FFT3dGPU.dll"
    (C:\Documents and Settings\Hidden\Desktop\script.avs, line1)

What must I do for this?
Here are the settings I used...

    LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\FFT3dGPU.dll")
    DirectShowSource("C:\Documents and Settings\[i]Hidden/i]\Desktop")
    fft3dgpu(mode=2,precision=2,plane=4,bt=4,bw=16,bh= 16)
    AddBorders(0,120,0,120)
    Lanczos4Resize(480,360)

  18. Is it where you say it is? Is that the real name of the DLL? Did you move it into the plugins folder with your encoder open, and then not close and reopen the encoder?

Also the error message is incorrectly typed, or there's a typo somewhere as you don't have:

    unable to load"C"\Program...

Wow - I'm out of the loop for a few weeks and suddenly so much has changed. It's hard to keep up with this 57-page thread. Maybe we could start a fresh? Anyways - could we maybe get a bit of a summary of the situation?

Am I right in saying youtube is now re-encoding every video uploaded, and that there is no way around it? Is there any way to preserve audio quality as of now? Sorry for a normally silly post but given the size of this thread I think it's reasonable.

I'm near absolute certain that Youtube converts all .flv files to their own standard, cancelling out the conversion bypass tricks allowing for higher quality video/audio and the time limit hack.

I just noticed that youtube make mono versions of old stereo versions of videos when they create the .mp4 (&fmt=18 ) version. That's kind of curious and bad news for all you guys with old stereo videos, if youtube decide to eventually remove .flv versions of their videos.

example. listen to first 20 seconds of this video. It has obvious left/right stereo effects.
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=Pbr1PYV2mOM

    then listen to .mp4 version.

  26. Since YouTube is slowly improving the resolution and data rates and going back and reencoding previous uploads, why not future proof your videos by uploading at a higher resolution than the current maximum and at a high data rate? Especially now that you can upload up to 1GB per video. That way when they decide to up the resolution/quality your video will look great when it is reencoded.

I did some testing and I could upload up to a 4000kbps video data rate file and it would improve the final data rate to that point where it capped out at 503kbps for the high quality version. A 1 minute video with medium-fast motion was 40mb, so a 10 minute would be around 400mb.

Here are some detailed SUPER settings and test results if you are interested...

Why you all wants to use &fmt=18 code, while &fmt=6 produces excellent video quality - up to 900 kbps (1005kbps with audio)

I have made a lot of tests. First, uploading a video with resolution 1600x1200 and compare it with an video uploaded at 640x480. But realized the higher resolution is, the most it will loose quality.
So I made a video 640x480 - 30 fps - 9000 kbps, o and the quality is excellent in my opinion.

Unless you are encoding @ 1080p, I don't see any reason to use such an enormous bitrate.

The VP7 technique gave me slightly better results. Though that method gave me better coloration. O_o I might be doing it wrong though.
