newbe needs help with bad video

Hi to all im new at restoreing video

can this be fixed somehow

i recorded this of tv years a go in the 80s on to VHS tape

can it be clean up so it can be put on to DVD

can i run it in VirtualDub with filters but never dun it be for

had a looked in the restorenig forum the same thing

please help thanks

How are you getting it from vcr to pc ... add info and hardware used .

i used a liton DVD recorder to put on a dvdrw then ript with plato dvd riper to avi

can it be fixed

The pic is very noisy, but this is what I got with a quick levels adjustment, some blur and a color correction. Look at it this way, you can't make it much worse :



In VirtualDub, I would start with the 'levels' filter. Then maybe a RGB filter for color correction. You might just get away with the 'HSV adjust', then some noise filtering.

VD has well more than a hundred filters available, so you should find a few that will help. Some filters here: http://www.thedeemon.com/VirtualDubFilters/ and here: http://neuron2.net/

would Video Enhancer or vd plugin Neat Video clean it up bit

my mate gave me both full to give them a go last night any good

I haven't used Video Enhancer, but have used a trial version of Neat Video. It does do a better job than I have ever managed, even with a stack of filters. The downside of NV is it's incredibly slow, at least when I used it. A one hour video may take a long, long, long time.

But try them both out. NV may have improved and Video Enhancer sounds good, at least in print.

Be aware you can 'over filter' also and end up with a 'cartoony' looking video.
