  1. What I've done is just start the Subtitle Edit and ask for speech to text. The prompt downloads what is needed and I ran a sample with the tiny en model (for old CPUS) and it showed it log as complete. I just don't know where or how it saves since it does not return to the main screen of SE.

[edit] OK I think I see what's going on: 2 windows one for whisper and one for the program which will load the text on completion. Then save that. It's been going for 15 minutes on a 2 hour play and no indication on the progress bar but we continue. I'll check it tomorrow-- worth the time if it gets a good sub.

  2. Yes, the important thing to watch for at completion is the prompt that says-- "export" I think replacing transcribe. I think I got a good run on it using SSD's where using an HD with base-en hung up after running a long time.

  3. Just English to English. I was unsure about ticking the box that says translate to English. Most of the text looked pretty good b/c not much background noise/music or production effects. Yes, RAM is limited and with all the price increases I'll have a hard time making my next build.

Every device has a limited amount of RAM because there is no such thing as unlimited RAM.
