  1. Does anyone know why when I've converted a video file in Avidemux where the framerate is 25fps, that I'm getting odd framerates like 22, 23 and 24.1?. As far as I know the programme should automatically output the framerate that the inputted video is set to.

Possible the source has variable framerate and/or unusual audio sample rates?

Your source file is probably not 25 FPS.

Getting constant 25fps MP4 from a PAL VHS capture here using the X264 Video encoder. What export settings are you using?

I don't think it's the source file. I did a few tests using the various video outputs and they all outputted the file at an odd framerate of about 22fps. I then selected the "AVI muxer" instead of MP4, MKV etc but using the one of the video encoders, and this time the outputted file was correct at 25fps. So I'm assuming it's because it the original avi file has to be outputted as an avi file to get the same framerate.

There may be some info that would help. Open the source file in Mediainfo, set it to view>text and see
what it says about the frame rate
