    Hi,
I got a tape that consist of a compilation of recorded footage splitted into clips that chain together.

The problem is that the tape likely contains PAL format colors and SECAM format colors, I just noticed that a part of my original capture record contained noisy colors of plain blue and red and when I watched that part on my CRT with my VCR it just appeared fully colored without a problem.

I use virtualdub to record the tape.

Is there a way for it to change the color format by detection during the playback ?
Or do I have to record both part aside and merge them back together after the 2 records ?

    Thanks for considering

  2. Try with Virtualvcr, it should be automatic detection but i guess it depends on drivers

We need to know what kind of capture device you're using. Most of them are not auto-system, and will need to be manually switched between PAL and SECAM as appropriate for the footage you're capturing.

It is better to capture the sections individually with their corresponding color format setting in lossless, Once captured, SECAM and PAL are digitally identical, then you can trim and merge the sections back together in vdub2.

That's what I thought about yeah, I just want to know if I can get an automatic change during playback.

I always keep the original raw footage of my capture in case I mess up something, but this time I need to do that again
