I have a short video clip of a guy riding a board that I would like to make longer. I once saw a video editing program that had 2 windows (Trim?) and where you could make changes so that the end of one clip matched exactly the beginning of the next, but I don't remember what this program was called. Does anyone know this?

  2. What you're remembering is usually an A/B or dual-trim view: two copies of the same clip side by side so you can line up the end of one loop with the start of the next.

    In free tools:
    - LosslessCut or Avidemux: duplicate the clip, trim each copy, then concatenate. Fast if you only need a longer loop.
    - DaVinci Resolve (free): put the clip on the timeline, Alt/Opt-drag to duplicate, trim the join, and use the viewer wipe (split screen) if you want to match the end frame to the start frame before you cut.
    - ffmpeg to repeat the same clip N times without re-encoding:
    ffmpeg -stream_loop 3 -i board.mp4 -c copy longer.mp4
    (stream_loop goes before -i.)

If the join still pops, the original shot does not loop cleanly — freeze the last frame a few frames, or slow the middle with a speed ramp instead of hard-looping. If you say whether you want a true seamless loop or just a longer cut, people can narrow the tool.

    Hi.

I have checked both Losslesscut og Avidemux on Youtube and with 30-40 videos there are no one who shows what I need.

What I saw that time was 2 windows side by side. One with the end of the first and one with the start of next. Then I could cut the second video frame by frame until it matches the end of the first one corecctly. Save and then I have an exact copy of what I want.

    Have a nice day.

  4. In an NLE like Shotcut (free) or Kdenlive (free) or similar you can put the 2 (or more) clips as 2 (or more) tracks on the timeline and edit and align/join/overlap/crossfade etc. each track as needed.

Yes, I suspect Fred AI has entered the chat.

@fred_abila, have you actually tried any of those solutions you propose or have you just posted a chatbot's answer?

I have to try Kdenlive. It looks like this one has what I need.

  7. Maybe you have FinalCutPro in mind. It's for Mac only though.
